Cetraria aculeata

Fruticose, thallus forming shrubby tuffs. Thallus dark brown, glossy, branches spinulose, withe pseudocyphellae elongate. Apothecia very rare, soredia very rare.

Distribution: From the Boreal region to the mountains of the Mediterranean area.

Ecology: On soil (WRB World Soil Reference: w19g Eutric Leptosols i Eutric Skeletic Leptic Regosols, on granitoids).
Altitude: 810 m
Climate: Continental Mediterranean (Tmm=11,7ºC,  600mm)
Common name: Spiny Iceland lichen
